Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire, a quiet neighborhood situated in The West Island of Montreal is one of those "sleepy" area. In reality, the West Island, to those who have never heard of it, is a large part that stretches from Lachine all the way west. Amanda Brugel was born there although her time there was short. Brugel lived in Courtice located just outside of Oshawa. The first goal was to become the best performer in the world, however, she simply outgrew her dance partners. In an article published by Toronto Star, she revealed that, in her heels, she stood 6 foot 1 inch tall. After I outgrew my male counterparts I stopped. Many former dancers turn to acting, and in Brugel's situation, it was a suggestion from an instructor in drama at high school that pushed her in the right direction. She was encouraged to participate in the school's production. She was the teacher who suggested that she pursue a role in the school's annual show. It was her turn to be awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to attend York University's Theatre Program in 2000. She graduated from the program in 2000, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Over the past 20 years the career of Brugel has seen her appearing in a variety of movies and TV productions. The role she was most famous for was the one of Rita (shown here) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel is the only Canadian actor in the season 1 which was only seen occasionally.
